Cassette & Folding-Arm Awnings
Cassette awnings are the most complete shading solution for terraces and balconies. When the awning retracts, the fabric and the arms fold away inside an aluminium case, protected from sun, dust and salt — which makes them last considerably longer.
For wider openings and commercial premises we fit folding-arm awnings (open or semi-cassette), with or without a valance, and with the option of printing your logo on the fabric. Every awning can be operated by hand crank or electrically with a SOMFY motor, remote control and a wind sensor that retracts it automatically when the meltemi picks up.

What is the difference between a cassette and a folding-arm awning?
On a cassette awning the fabric and arms close completely inside an aluminium case when retracted. On an open folding-arm awning the fabric stays exposed. The cassette costs more, but the fabric lasts considerably longer — which matters a great deal this close to the sea.
Can an existing awning be motorised?
In most cases, yes. We fit a SOMFY tubular motor into the existing roller bar, with a remote control and optionally a wind sensor. We confirm this during the free site survey.
What happens in strong wind?
We recommend a wind (vibration) sensor, which retracts the awning automatically when it starts blowing hard. In exposed locations we also specify heavier-duty arms and brackets.
How long does installation take?
Once the measurements are taken and the fabric chosen, a typical terrace awning is usually installed within a single day.
